How conversions are calculated

For all linear units (length, area, volume, speed, mass) the calculator converts your number to a base unit, and from that base unit to the final one.

General formula:

\( \text{toValue} = \text{fromValue} \times \frac{\text{factorFrom}}{\text{factorTo}} \)

Where factor is the number of base units per selected unit.

Temperature

Temperature requires specific formulas, e.g. °C → °F: \( F = C \times \frac{9}{5} + 32 \), and K = C + 273.15.

Tips
