Minutes calculator
A fast, professional minutes calculator for everyday and pro workflows: convert hours, days, and seconds to minutes; convert minutes back to D/H/M/S; add or subtract time values; and compute precise differences between two date-times. Built for accessibility, accuracy, and speed.

Seconds are converted to minutes with \\( \\text{minutes} = \\frac{\\text{seconds}}{60} \\).
Converts minutes into days, hours, minutes, and seconds using integer division and remainders.
Uses ISO 8601 local time. Difference is computed in minutes: \\( \\Delta t = \\frac{t_2 - t_1}{60\\,\\text{s}} \\).

The Formula Explained
Minutes from components:
\\[ m_{total} = 1440\\,d + 60\\,h + m + \\frac{s}{60} \\]Component breakdown from minutes:
\\[ d = \\left\\lfloor \\frac{m_{total}}{1440} \\right\\rfloor,\\quad h = \\left\\lfloor \\frac{m_{total} - 1440d}{60} \\right\\rfloor,\\quad m = (m_{total} - 1440d) - 60h,\\quad s = \\big( m_{frac} \\times 60 \\big) \\]Time difference between two date-times:
\\[ \\Delta m = \\frac{t_2 - t_1}{60\\,\\text{s}} \\]Glossary of Variables
| Symbol | Meaning | Unit |
|---|---|---|
d | Days | day |
h | Hours | hour |
m | Minutes | minute |
s | Seconds | second |
mtotal | Total minutes | minute |
Δm | Difference in minutes between two date-times | minute |
How It Works: A Step-by-Step Example
Task: Convert 2 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes, and 30 seconds into minutes.
Using \\( m_{total} = 1440d + 60h + m + \\frac{s}{60} \\):
- \\(1440\\times2 = 2880\\)
- \\(60\\times3 = 180\\)
- \\(m = 15\\)
- \\(\\frac{30}{60} = 0.5\\)
Result: \\(2880 + 180 + 15 + 0.5 = 3075.5\\) minutes.
FAQ
Does the calculator handle seconds precisely?
Yes. Seconds are converted to a decimal fraction of a minute (s/60). Results are shown to high precision and rounded for display.
What about leap seconds or DST changes?
Component conversions (D/H/M/S ↔ minutes) are purely arithmetic. Date-time differences use your local clock; peculiarities like DST shifts affect wall-clock differences accordingly.
Can I subtract one time value from another?
Yes. Use the Add/Subtract mode and choose “Subtract (A − B)”. The result is shown in minutes and decomposed back to D/H/M/S.
How are large minute values handled?
Large values are decomposed using integer division; the UI remains responsive thanks to lightweight client-side code.
Is this calculator accessible?
It meets WCAG 2.1 AA: labelled inputs, keyboard-friendly controls, visible focus, tooltips tied via aria-describedby, and results announced in a live region.
Can I print the results?
Yes. Use your browser’s print dialog; the page includes a print-friendly stylesheet.
